Fabian Salas and Lola Diaz

FABIÁN SALAS & LOLA DÍAZ

Fabian Salas is an internationally renowned tango dancer, teacher, researcher and choreographer, famed for his distinctive approach to the dance.

Born in 1963 in La Plata, capital of the Buenos Aires province, Fabian was educated in both Argentina and the US, trained as a lawyer and moved to the city of Buenos Aires to practice law and dance the tango in 1988.

By 1992, Fabian had begun touring the world as a tango teacher becoming then, one of the first professional touring teachers in history and opening in such way, many doors to others who later decided to join this activity. In 1995 he started an investigation group which lead to the development of a revolutionary way of understanding, teaching and dancing the tango, which later on was known as "Tango Nuevo". Despite the fact Fabian disagrees with the name giving to that whole movement, he is considered to be one of the fathers of the today so called "Tango Nuevo". In 1996, Fabian took part in the filming of the motion picture "Evita", and a year later was one of the main dancers in the award-winning film "The Tango Lesson".

Fabian runs the tango education organizations Cosmotango and TangoPal and has created a series of instructional videos to teach authentic Tango in 10 easy lessons. He is also the organizer and director of the CITA (Congreso Internacional de Tango Argentino) the world's most important annual tango event, which brings together tango lovers, practitioners and leading tango artists in the Argentine capital.

Nowadays, he partners Lola Díaz, who regardless of her short age, has participated in several Tango productions of which the most important are: Dancing with Pablo Verón at “La hora del Tango”, Festival Classico Pompeiano 2007. Dancing the principal roll with Pablo Verón and choreography assistant of the Clip “Nexus” 2007. Principal roll and choreographer (Tango y Ballet) of the Clip “Tango Hereje” 2006.

As a tango teacher she also has a very active career, where besides international tours, she has 4 years of experience teaching at La Viruta, a very famous tango school in Buenos Aires.

Barbara Carpino & Claudio Forte

Barbara Carpino & Claudio Forte

Barbara Carpino and Claudio Forte are professional tango argentino dancers among the most charismatic of their generation. Very young, hardly 25, they first encountered tango in 2002, after having studied classical ballet, contemporary dance, ballroom and Latin dance.

Leaning on the diversity of their background they have developed a personal style, with a unique simplicity and elegance, and quickly built their reputation becoming one of the most important Italian tango couples. All in Claudio & Barbara's dance comes down to full improvisation, so much that they choose the music for their performance 10 minutes before going on stage, according to the atmosphere and their mood. Elegance, softness and ease are the essential characteristics of this extraordinary couple. In their dance they manage to always transmit different emotions and be at once sweet and passionate, a quality difficult to find in other dancers.

In august of 2006 in the world capital of tango, Buenos Aires, Claudio & Barbara have participated in the Mundial de Baile de Tango, the World Championship with the participation of all the best couples of tango argentino, and were classified as the 4th ABSOLUTE COUPLE IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!! This achievement of Claudio & Barbara is historical because never before did a foreign, e.g. non-Argentinean couple, win one of the five first places in any edition of the World Championship and, even more incredible, Barbara and Claudio were the first classified foreign couple in that championship, if you consider that the first three places were taken by Argentinean couples! In 2004 they have founded their tango school in Syracuse, the first school in their city and the whole of the Syracuse province and nowadays the largest tango school and milonga in whole of Europe, featuring two enormous halls with 500m2 of parquet floor. Just in three years the number of Barbara & Claudio students has grown to more than 200! Recently they have been the only Italian couple to perform at the International Tango Festivals of Perugia, Mantova and Lugano.
In November 2006 they have participated in the television program Festa Italiana on RAI UNO. In March 2007 they have participated in the television program by Telestar 'A passo di…' In May 2007 they have been the only Italian couple to perform at the Chocotango Festival in Perugia, together with two Argentinean couples, where they gave workshops, private classes and performances.
In June 2007 and 2008 they have participated in the first and second editions of the Capri Tango Festival as special guests, performing in Naples and on the main square of Capri.
In July 2007 they have organised the first Syracuse International Tango Festival and in June 2008 the second edition of the Syracuse International Tango Festival + Marathon. The festival milongas were held in the most beautiful locations of Syracuse, while the classes took place at the Claudio & Barbara's Paladanze tango school. Dancers from all over the world have participated in their festival.

Today they travel the world giving classes and performing, among others in the following cities: Bologna, Buenos Aires (Tango Brujo e Canning), Capri, Catania, Crema, Enna, Florence, Lugano, Messina, Milan, Naples, Padova, Palermo, Paris, Perugia, Ragusa, Riccione, Rome, Syracuse, Torino. In February 2009 they was the only European Couple that teach and exhibition at the MISTERIO TANGO FESTIVAL in Buenos Aires!

A Moscow-based former competitive gymnast, Kseniya got her first taste of tango in 1999 in Japan and hadn’t looked back ever since.

She has studied with the most renowned teachers and dancers, including Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes, Mariano “Chicho” Frumboli and Juana Sepulveda, Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa, Gustavo Funes, Esteban Moreno and Claudia Codega, Pablo Inza, Moira Castellano, Dany “El Flaco”, Silvina Valz, Elba and Nito Garcia and many others.

She started her teaching career in 2006 and in 2009, became co-founder and the leading teacher of one of the best-reputed tango schools in Russia, elcentro.

In teaching tango, Kseniya likes to combine the principles she learnt from her years in rhythmic gymnastics with the wisdom derived from her extensive studies with the best Argentinean and European tango teachers and dancers.

Kseniya continues to hone her mastery both as a teacher and dancer. She has performed at the most prestigious and important tango events in Russia, including Planetango and Milonguero Nights.

In 2012 Kseniya also became qualified in teaching tangolates, a fast-growing “body and mind” fitness activity.
